Wisdom Teeth

Wisdom Teeth Removal Plumstead

Wisdom teeth, also known as third molars, are the last of your permanent teeth to appear between the ages of 17 and 25 for most people. When they do emerge, most people have 4 wisdom teeth, one in each corner of the mouth. Due to a lack of space, wisdom teeth may partially emerge or may be fully impacted causing pain, dental infections and damage to the adjacent tooth.

Sometimes, wisdom teeth that have partially emerged can cause dental issues. Food and bacteria can get trapped around the edge of the emerging tooth, causing a build-up of plaque, which can lead to tooth decay, gum disease, pericoronitis (infection), abscess, cellulitis (a bacterial infection that can spread to the cheek, tongue or throat).

You should make an appointment to see us as soon as possible if your wisdom teeth are causing discomfort. The team will assess the condition, take an x-ray and do their best to help you.
